The University of Miami (UoM) has several nursing programs including an accelerated BSN program designed for those who have already completed a baccalaureate degree in a major other than nursing. Students who graduate from this accelerated second bachelor’s nursing program will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam in order to become a registered nurse. The school is fully accredited by the CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.)
Students in the accelerated program do not need to take extra GE courses on the basis of their previous bachelor’s degree. Because of that, it is possible to earn the baccalaureate degree in nursing within just 12 months over three semesters of study with 55 credits. Enrollment must be full time and in consecutive semesters. Note that there is a separate second degree bachelor’s in nursing which is not accelerated which takes two years to complete.
